Little Man Baby Shower in the works!

Wow! So I am waaaayyyy behind in posting!  The baby from the gender reveal post has ARRIVED!!! And she is GORGEOUS!!  But I have to go back and tell you all about the lil cowgirl themed baby shower we threw them.  It was a great hit! The ham and swiss sammies and the oreo truffles were DEVOURED!!!
Here are a few pics from that shower.  You can see the rest on my facebook page (facebook.com/littlebellaboodesigns).

Now it's time to plan my Cousin Traci's (on right) shower! She is having a little boy! Theses baby cousins are going to be about 4 months apart!  And their momma's have been best friends since high school! How sweet is that!?

We are going with a "Lil Man" theme using grey and white chevron with touches of turquoise!  Today I am working on Welcome Baby chevron pennant banner.

So the good news is I have a pic of the (almost) finished banner.  It needs a heart on the empty space.  Also, pardon the picture on my stairs.  1.) It's currently snowing outside so taking my usual pic on the fence was out and 2.) it was the only wall space I had open. ;)

The bad news is that I accidentally deleted the first few pictures of how I made it. But I have full faith that my readers are rock stars and will be able to figure it out for the instructions!

So the first thing I did was get my supplies together.  You will need chipboard pennants (shown below), a piece of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper (1 piece for every 2 pennants) as well as mod podge, a sponge brush and a heavy flat object for the first step.

I can fit 2 of each of the pennants I chose on my scrapbook paper.  The first thing you do is apply a thin coat of mod podge to your chipboard.  Make sure to cover it from end to end then place it glue side down on the blank side of the scrapbook paper.  Also, make sure to are laying it down so that when you flip it over the pattern is going the way you want it too.  Then repeat with the second pennant.  Once you have them both on the paper, smooth it down with your fingers once more then lay it under your heavy object.  Those big dictionaries or encyclopedias you have hanging around will work perfect for this! Repeat this process for as many pennants as you need. As you can see from mine, I needed 12 to spell out Welcome Baby with a heart in the middle blank space. I let these dry overnight.  Then take an exacto knife and careful cut around the chipboard getting as close to the edge as possible.  A hole puncher works perfectly to punch out the paper covering the holes on the chipboard.  Once they are all cut out you are ready for stage two.

For this stage you will need some chipboard letters of your choice and whatever paint color you want to use. Oh and a glue stick (or mod podge).

Paint your letters and let them dry.  Then using a glue stick or mod podge place them on the patterned paper in the center as shown below.  Mine dried very well just sticking them on and leaving them, but you can also put them under a heavy object again if you think you need too.  I'm not in a hurry to get this done so I let mine dry over night, but you can give it about an hour or so to mostly set and work on the next part if need be. It depends on what time frame you are working with.

Now for the last and easiest step! Put them on a ribbon or string! The only tip I can offer you here is to make sure you put them in the right order! There is nothing more frustrating then realizing you have to take half of them off because you forgot I before E except after C! lol

And that was your quick and easy tutorial for making a banner! The best part about it is that you can custom make this for any event in any color scheme! And it adds an extra little touch of awesomeness!!
